Las Vegas Font: A Bold, Vintage Display Typeface for Small Businesses

Last Tuesday, I sat at my kitchen table with three printed versions of my candle labels—each one trying (and failing) to capture the warm, handmade charm of my small-batch soy candles. The current font felt… forgettable. Friendly, sure—but not memorable. Not the kind of typeface that makes someone pause mid-scroll on Instagram or remember my brand after walking past my local farmers’ market stall. That’s when I downloaded Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is a thick, vintage-styled display font—think bold neon signs from a classic roadside diner, but refined and versatile enough for today’s small business needs. It’s not delicate. It’s not minimalist. It’s confident, friendly, and full of personality—like your favorite neighborhood café owner who remembers your order and always has time for a chat. And because it’s designed as a display font, it shines brightest where you want attention: logos, packaging titles, signage, social media banners, and product labels.

I started simple: swapping out the header text on my Instagram story templates. Instantly, my “New Scent Alert!” slide felt more intentional—not just another post, but a moment. Then I updated my thank-you cards. The name of each candle (“Honey & Sage,” “Midnight Cedar”) now pops in Las Vegas, while the rest of the message stays clean and legible in a soft sans serif. That contrast? It’s where magic happens. Las Vegas doesn’t try to do everything—it does one thing brilliantly: make short, meaningful phrases unforgettable.

Here’s where it works best in real life:

Typography shapes first impressions faster than we realize. When your packaging, website, or Instagram grid all speak in the same visual voice, people begin to trust you—not because you say you’re reliable, but because your brand feels cohesive. Las Vegas helps build that consistency without demanding a full rebrand. You don’t need to overhaul your color palette or hire a designer. Just choose one strong, expressive display font—and use it intentionally.

That said, Las Vegas isn’t meant for paragraphs. It’s not your body text. It’s your headline, your logo lockup, your “Welcome” sign, your product title on a Shopify banner. Think of it like your brand’s handshake—firm, friendly, and impossible to ignore. For longer text, pair it with something clean and neutral: a modern sans serif (like Inter or Montserrat) for digital use, or a gentle serif (like Lora or Playfair Display) for print pieces like brochures or gift tags. Even a subtle handwritten font can balance its boldness beautifully—great for boutique tags or artisanal soap labels.

Before using Las Vegas across your brand, take two minutes to check what’s included. Most premium display fonts like this come with OpenType features—alternates, ligatures, and stylistic sets—that add polish (like swapping a standard “A” for a swashy version on a logo). Make sure it supports the languages you need, especially if you sell internationally or include ingredients in multiple languages. And yes—double-check the commercial license. As a small business owner, you’ll want full rights to use it on physical products (candle labels, tote bags), digital assets (social posts, email headers), and even client work if you freelance.

File format matters too. Look for both .OTF and .TTF files—you’ll need .OTF for advanced typographic control in design tools like Illustrator or Affinity, and .TTF for broader compatibility in Canva or basic word processors. If you're printing packaging, confirm the font renders crisply at small sizes—Las Vegas handles 14–16pt well on jar labels and 24pt+ on storefront signage.

What surprised me most wasn’t how much better my labels looked—it was how much *easier* branding became. Once Las Vegas was in place, decisions got simpler: “What font should go here?” became “Is this a headline moment? Then Las Vegas. Is it supporting text? Then our clean sans.” That clarity freed up mental space for things that actually grow my business—like refining scents, building relationships with local shops, or planning next season’s limited edition run.

If you’ve ever stared at a blank Canva template wondering why nothing feels quite *right*, or watched your beautifully photographed product get lost in a sea of similar-looking shops—try Las Vegas. Not as a gimmick, but as a thoughtful tool. A display font that says, “We’re proud of what we make—and we want you to notice.”

It won’t fix your supply chain. It won’t write your email newsletter. But it will help your brand feel more human, more intentional, and more unmistakably *yours*—one bold, vintage-inspired letter at a time.
